OUR STORY SO FAR

We are a Mum & Son duo with over 30 years experience in Estate Agency. Avenue Road was founded in August 2020, after the first lockdown which changed the world and our careers, unable to work as the housing market was "closed", we were unable to visit people at home to sell their properties. 

We had an opportunity to look at how life had changed, many people were working from home, how local communities had pulled together through a difficult Spring and Summer and how our expertise and service could be delivered by a local, friendly, family company who truly care about service. 

Our vision was to deliver an exceptional Estate Agency Experience with the focus on our Client and a promise to deliver an excellent service because we believe every Client, every property, every sale is unique and by focusing on our Clients' we can offer a truly bespoke service and support them through their sale and onward purchase. 

Our business grew rapidly, gaining excellent reviews along with personal recommendations by word of mouth, where our Clients' were happy to recommend us to family and friends. In our second year, Rightmove ranked our company as number 1 in Midlothian for sales and instructions. This was a massive achievement which we were extremely proud of and a testement to our hard work and dedication. In a competitive industry we have enjoyed huge success with a hands on and innovative personal approach to Estate Agency where the Client and our service always come first.

In October 2021 we received a call from the production team for the TV show "Escape to the Country" who were interested in featuring a property we were marketing in Loanhead, a detached stone bungalow in Arbuthnot Road, which enjoyed an elevated position with magnificent views overlooking the North Esk River in Kevock Valley to the historic Mavisbank House and neighbouring Lasswade. With our Clients' agreement, we were delighted to welcome the film and production team with Jules Hudson who was the presenter. The programme aired early 2022 after we had sold the house to a local buyer! 







Following on from this success, 7 months later in 2022, we received another call, this time from Channel 4's Location Location Location team who requested featuring 7 Hazelbank Terrace - a 4 bed double-upper in the colonies area of Shandon in Edinburgh. The excitement grew when we met Kirsty Allsopp who was great fun, exactly as you see her on TV. This was another huge success story as we sold 10 Hazelbank Terrace at a closing date in excess of 10% above the home report valuation.

Our business continued to grow. We opened our first local office premises at Liberton Brae in August 2023. We chose this location as it is close to both Midlothian and Edinburgh, with easy access and parking. This became our hub for buyers and sellers to visit the office and meet the team in person. 







Most recently we appeared on Escape to the Country again. This time the presenter was Sonali Shah who visited the Midlothian town of Gorebridge to film with the production team. The house hunters were a "Mum and Son" from England looking to relocate to the Lothians. Sonali opens the programme chatting on camera to the "Mum and Son" team from Avenue Road!
